Stevens Pass is the most scenic route to Leavenworth.  You will follow the Skykomish river and Tye Creek up towards the pass and then Nason Creek and the Wenatchee River down to Leavenworth.  Tumwater Canyon is narrow with high cliff walls above and powerful rapids below.  Plan on a 2-21/2 hour drive.  Highway 2 has many small towns with slower speed limits.  It is a 2 lane mountain road with occasional passing lanes.  It is a 4 lane highway over the pass.

From the Seattle area there are 2 options to get to Monroe:  I-5 North to Everett and then East on Highway 2 or I-405 North to Woodinville then SR522 to Monroe.  From there, head East on Highway 2 over Stevens Pass to Leavenworth.

Once in Leavenworth, you will drive straight through Leavenworth and cross the river.  Turn right on East Leavenworth Road and travel .6 miles to the City Park Boat Launch area.  You'll see your signs and equipment.  Park where directed.
