Frequently Asked Questions:

How does it all work? In Leavenworth you meet us at the take out on East Leavenworth Road, check in, get your equipment, hop on the bus, and head to the launching point.  After a brief safety and equipment use discussion you float on downriver and enjoy your trip.  At the end you'll see the take out point, load your gear back into the trailer and off you go to your next adventure!

At Lake Wenatchee, you meet us at our building in the park, complete your waivers and pay for your trip, then receive your tubes and a safety talk and float down the river to the ending point.  We have a regularly scheduled van to you and give you a ride back to the park.

How Deep is the River?

The river varies from 1-3 feet in most places with some deep swimming holes or channels through the gravel bars.  The depth changes based on the time of year and the water flow.

Is the river calm? Yes, this is a very mild and calm stretch of river.  There is some current and an occasional rock, log, or wave, but calm and mild.
Is the river safe? Rivers are inherently dangerous.  We always choose very calm and mild stretches of river that are slow and shallow in most places.  Anything could happen and you should always be prepared to react to unexpected circumstances.
Is it OK for kids? Yes, kids of all ages can come on this trip.  Infants and toddlers can come too, but as a parent you need to be fit enough, aware of your surroundings, and confident in your abilities to safely navigate the river with your child in tow.  There are no guides or life guards on the trip.  You need to be responsible for your children.
Is it guided? No, we do not have any guides on the river.  We provide a shuttle ride to a relatively safe launching point, basic safety instruction, and a well marked ending point with an attendant on the beach.  There are maps on the tubes with landmarks and instructions.
Do the tubes clip together? Yes, all of the tubes have clips on them so you can keep your kids, friends, coolers, or dogs nearby.  We recommend that you only clip together in small groups and that you disconnect when approaching obstacles and the beach at the end.
What about life vests? Life vests are always recommended and provided with every rental.  Additional vests are available for rent for $2.  Life vests are required for 6 and under or if Mom says so.
Can we bring alcohol? Yes, alcohol is permitted but we do not allow glass containers.  We do not rent equipment to people who are intoxicated.  Alcohol is not recommended, it impairs judgment.  If you drink on the river please don't litter and please respect private property and other people playing in or along the river.
What do I do with my keys?

We have complimentary key check.

If you bring your keys they could fall in the river.

Do people ever get hurt?

Yes, occasionally people fall off their tubes and get bumped, bruised, or scraped.  Sometimes people have floated under low hanging bushes and been scratched up.  Occasionally somebody falls into the water and gets tumbled or held under water for a few seconds.  There has never been a serious injury on any of our floats at any location.
