River Facts:

The Wenatchee River flows out of Lake Wenatchee, located approximately 18 miles from the put-in.

Lake Wenatchee

Rivers are measured in flow, calculated as cubic feet of water per second past any given point.  The high water occurs on the Wenatchee every Spring, usually during May and June.  There are no dams upstream that regulate river flow, so the volume of water depends on the annual snow pack and the rising spring and summer temperatures.

The spring flows range from 4,000 cfs to 18,000 or more.  For 2003 the highest water occurred on June 8th & 9th at 12,600 cfs.  In 2004 the highest water was on May 4th at 9,160 CFS, and another high point occurred on May 21st at 8,330.  For the most current river data click here to go to the Wenatchee River stream flow gauge.  This information is provided by the United States Geological Survey.  You can go to the USGS website to get information about almost any river or stream in the country.

For the 2003 season we opened on July 22 with a water level of 1,680 cfs and closed on September 3rd with 500 cfs.  For 2004 we opened on July 2nd at 3400 cfs.  We closed on Labor Day, September 6th, at  cfs.  In  2005 We experienced unusually low snow pack and water levels and opened on June 17.  Closing was again on Labor Day weekend.  2006 had a great snowpack and we opened July 2nd and closed in late September.  We almost made it to Octoberfest!

The average river temperature is right around 65˚ for our season and can get as high as 72˚. During the spring runoff the water can be as cold as 39˚!
